Blues dance & Modern Jive

This is Marc & Rachel who teach and DJ all over the UK

Marc and Rachel, like many others, are developing their own style. Modern Jive is a dance that you can make your own.

Start with fun, journey to romantic fantasy

Tango influence on Blues dancing

Tango is the most intense of the partner dances. It is only natural that Blues dancers seek inspiration and instruction from it. Amir Giles has his partners have brought their expertise into melding the two dance forms with "Jango". Others have followed the same path. Here Sara White and partner give a very nice demonstration of how the intensity of some Tango and Blues moves moves can be coupled with the easier transitions from Modern Jive, making the romantic intensity more accessible.

Many standard Modern Jive nights now have  some Tango tracks included, making the dance even more versatile and a more complete dance experience. Needless to say Tango classes have benefited greatly, at least in numbers, from an influx of Modern Jive dancers wanting to learn more. Here is another very nice promo video for the Sara White Jivenites.

Forget the labels. It is just dance

This is CJ and Yliander dancing. When you reach this level labels become redundant, and any words I can find are inadequate.

Yliander calls this "messing about", I am not alone in not having the right words, but, for the next clip the composer has them "Nothing else matters".

At the Scottish Championships.

CJ is another that DJ's all over the U.K. His speciality is so called "Mariachi" nights which stretch the dance boundaries with guitar based music, and are very popular.
